Set in the south west of the island, amongst the wonderful scenery to be found there, is the "Grand Canyon" of Crete.

Famous for being the longest gorge in Europe it is also top of the list for nature lovers. Its vast array of herbs and flowers, only known to Crete, is a must for botanists and the bird watchers will not be disappointed either. It is also an area of great interest for photographers.

The walk is strenuous but the feeling of achievement at the end is a well deserved. The 18 kms takes around 5 hours ending at the lovely bay of Aghia Roumeli where a well deserved rest is waiting via the beach or local taverna. A boat takes us to the small port of Chora Sfakion where the coach is waiting to take you back to the resort. A long but hugely satisfying day.
